We have a vacancy in the role of HEAD COACH at Birmingham & Solihull RFC. We are looking to recruit a talented and ambitious head coach who can build on the success of the last season and develop our players, the core having come through our youth section and many having played together since they were 14, as well as attract new players to the club.

The club re-entered the RFU pyramid in the 21-22 season in Midlands 5 West (South) and manage 2 successive promotions before finishing a creditable 5th place this season in level 8. The ambition is to push on and try and attain promotion to level 7.

The successful candidate will be expected to lead on coaching and development of the Senior Men’s squad and to manage and grow the club’s Senior Men’s section.

The club runs a 1st XV and are hoping to be able to get a regular 2nd XV in the 2024-25 season.

Key Responsibilities

• To plan & evolve a coaching program for the season that develops the players skills and meets the ambitions of the club
• To appraise the squad and understand the players strengths and weaknesses in order to develop individual development plans
• Lead the weekly training program
• Lead the weekly selection meetings
• Manage the 1st XV on match days
• Support recruitment and retention.
• Work with the club’s Head of Senior Rugby to deliver the club’s ambitions.
• To ensure that the transition from youth to senior rugby at the club is maintained and strengthened

Essential attributes

• Experience in adult coaching
• Level 2 or higher coaching qualification
• Availability on training nights and on match days
• Well motivated and organised

Preferred attributes

• Additional rugby related CPD
• Strong communication skills
• Advanced social media skills
